Local Law Enforcement Agencies Sponsor the 1st Annual Jason Campbell Basketball Benefit Challenge

On Saturday, June 16th at D.H. Conley High School local law enforcement agencies participated in the first annual Jason Campbell Basketball Benefit Challenge. The agencies included Greenville Police, Greenville Fire and Rescue, PCMH Police, Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, NC Highway Patrol, Faith and Victory Church, Koinonia Christian Center and First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount.

Officer Jason Campbell of the Greenville Police Department died in the line of duty earlier this year. The proceeds from the Basketball Benefit Challenge will be donated to a scholarship fund for Officer Campbell’s children. This is the first of many tournaments, “we are trying to expand this annual benefit tournament to be a state wide event” said tournament organizer Paula Dance. “we hope we never have another fallen officer, but we also want to be prepared to assist the family as much as we can – we can accomplish this through the annual benefit challenge” This year the benefit tournament raised over $2,000.

The event was sponsored by Overton’s, Roberson’s Nursery, Hollywood Grill, Pitt County Schools, Dominoes Pizza, and Sam’s Club. If you would like more information about the scholarship fund contact Paula Dance at (252) 902-2673 or Jeff Maye at (252) 258-1339.
